book a mix

About · Alexandria, VA

harmonia audio

a dry, patient room off south pitt street where raw takes come in cluttered with coughs and false starts — and leave sounding inevitable.

how the room came to be

it started with one show that kept clipping

A friend hosting a neighborhood history podcast kept handing over episodes that peaked into distortion on every laugh — recorded in a kitchen with the fridge humming behind every sentence. One weekend of untangling that mess turned into the thing we couldn’t stop doing.

So we found a corner off South Pitt Street, hung the foam, killed the reflections, and warmed up a signal chain that treats a spoken voice the way a studio treats a vocal take. No templates, no batch presets — every episode gets its own set of fader moves.

Today hosts across Alexandria drop us their unvarnished takes and get back audio that sits level beside the shows they listen to on the drive home. Same two ears on every mix, start to publish.

what we hold to

four things we won’t compromise on

01

the voice comes first

Music beds, stingers, and sound design all serve the words. If a flourish pulls focus from the person talking, it goes — your listener came for the conversation, not the production.

02

faders over presets

Every level moves by hand until the quiet parts stay quiet and the loud parts don’t bite. The board remembers nothing between episodes; each one is set fresh from the top.

03

a date is a promise

When we say three to four business days, we mean the day we said — not the day after. Your release calendar isn’t a suggestion, and we treat it like it isn’t ours to move.

04

honest loudness

Spoken-word masters leave at −16 LUFS integrated, true-peak under −1 dBTP — the spec Apple and Spotify want. No fake loudness war, no ears reaching for the volume knob.

—

the ears behind the board

Small by design. You hand your show to the same people who mix it, and they’re the ones who email you back — no account layer, no hand-offs, no mystery about who touched the file.

editing · mixing · mastering

Lives in the edit window — carving breaths, trimming false starts, and chasing the rhythm you’d keep if you could hear yourself the way a listener will. Sets your loudness to spec on every final pass.

show notes · transcripts · delivery

Turns the finished episode into something a feed can read — chaptered show notes, a transcript that reads true, and a file bundled and uploaded ready for Apple, Spotify, and everywhere in between.

what to send us

No gear checklist, no studio required. Record wherever you are, hand us whatever the mic caught, and we’ll take it from the raw file to the published feed.

start a conversation

the raw takes

WAV or MP3, room tone and all. Riverside, Zoom, a field recorder on the kitchen table — it doesn’t matter. Separate tracks per voice if you have them; one mixed file works too.

your rough shape

A sentence on where it drags, which tangent to cut, or the cold open you want up top. We edit toward the show you hear in your head, not a generic trim.

any music or stingers

Your theme, a licensed bed, an ad read to drop in — send the files and the timestamps, and we’ll slide them under the voice like light under a door.

your release date

Tell us when it needs to be live and we’ll work back from there. On a tight deadline? Say so when you book and we’ll quote a rush before you commit.

come by the room, hear the chain warm up, and leave with a show that sounds like it cost more than it did.
